Having a child is definitely a source of inspiration. Prior to the birth of his son Ronald Citron had never written a book for children. His creative efforts were dedicated to writing music and playing improvisations on the piano.
When his son reached the age of three, Citron felt the inspiration to write a book specifically for him and Never Make a Grumph Angry came into existence. The book depicts different emotions through a variety of characters.
Citron wrote the story, labored to draw the characters and copied the book and stapled it together to read to his son. He discovered his young child loved the book and wanted it read to him many times. The book became a source of great joy for the both of them.
